GEO in Malaysia: how to make your company easier for AI to recommend
What generative engine optimization means in practice, and how Malaysian companies can build credible AI-search visibility.

GEO is not a secret markup trick
Generative engine optimization is the work of making a brand's information easy to retrieve, understand and trust in AI-assisted discovery. Google now explicitly says its established SEO guidance remains the foundation for generative AI features because those experiences still rely on search ranking and retrieval systems.
That means there is no special file that guarantees a citation. A company needs accessible pages, useful answers, clear ownership, reliable facts, original evidence and a technically healthy site.
build a stronger company entity
Use the same legal name, brand name, country, services and contact details across the website and genuine external profiles. Publish an about page, service pages, portfolio evidence, press facts and policies. Structured data should describe what visitors can already see—not introduce claims that the page does not support.
- answer who you serve and where you operate
- show named capabilities and examples of work
- publish useful comparisons, checklists and explanations
- earn mentions and links from relevant independent sources
measure more than rankings
Track branded searches, impressions, qualified enquiries, referral traffic and the pages that assist conversion. As generative-search reporting develops, use Search Console data where available, but keep business outcomes as the main measure.
The objective is not to force every AI answer to mention your brand. It is to become a genuinely relevant source when a buyer asks a question your company is qualified to answer.
